PE and Sports Premium

The PE and Sports Allocation is funding in addition to the main school funding. The Government provides this support to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. The funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health & Culture and Media & Sport. Schools must use this funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of sport they offer.

How St Mary’s is using this funding

  • To subsidise transportation to Leominster swimming pool and the provision of three qualified swimming instructors on Friday afternoons (38 sessions).
  • To partly fund the minibus so that pupils can compete with other schools and in competitions within the Weobley High School cluster.
  • To purchase new sports equipment: footballs, tag rugby equipment, hockey sticks and primary athletics equipment.
  • To employ Mrs Bennett a specialist sports and dance instructor.
  • To hire the Village Hall on Monday and Thursday afternoons so that PE continues in inclement weather conditions.
  • To fund gymnastics and dance with the Weobley based Aspire Dance Studio.
  • To fund transportation cost to Aspire Dance Studio when required.
  • To fund Mr Edge to attend FA Level 2 Football coach training.
  • To fund a sports club on Mondays and Thursdays 3.15pm – 4.00pm for all ages.
  • To fund a tag rugby coach, Mark Stowell.
  • To fund entry and costs of Tag Rugby competitions and Lucton Cross Country.
  • To provide staffing and materials for Forest School. Specialists + TA.
  • To provide fruit at morning break throughout the school to encourage healthy eating.
  • To provide free milk to all infants daily.
  • To lease and maintain the school field.
  • To mow the leased school field throughout the growing season.
