Outdoor Learning

At St Mary’s we understand and can clearly see the benefits for our children when they are learning outside. Being outside to learn enables our children to develop a level of resilience. It can help to increase motivation, and gain higher personal and social skills. In our outside areas we make great use of our nature garden and willow arbour, which children love to study in, we take regular trips to our forest school woodland; here our children are able to further develop their confidence, gain life skills, work through practical problems and naturally reinforce high self-esteem in their own capabilities. It forms a better understanding of the natural environment and most importantly – it is fun!
